DD 2018 Retained Player List
- Kagiso Rabada
With his current bowling stats Rabada is showing all signs that he is the next Dale Steyn for South Africa. With his bowling speeds reaching upto 136.7 kmph he surely has a few key wickets written on his name for this season of IPL. Rabada has taken 22 wickets in 16 T20 matches with an impressive strike rate of 16.45. He debuted last year for the Delhi Daredevils but he did not get many opportunities to manifest his potential, playing just six games.
- Rishabh Pant
Only his third IPL match, Pant scored 69 runs off 40 balls, helping DD to an eight-wicket victory over the Gujarat Lions. Rishabh Pant started gaining fame in his U-19 Cricket World Cup. Being very aggressive in nature this is a Batsman-Wicketkeeper combo to definitely look out for in this 2018 season of the IPL. Last year itself he shattered Gujarat Lions’ bowling once again with a breathtaking 97 off 43 balls. He ended the tournament with an impressive 366 runs.
- Shreyas Iyer
During 2015 auction DD signed Shreyas Iyer for a massive amount of Rs. 2.6 crores, making him the IPL’s highest paid uncapped player. He scored 439 runs in 14 innings with a strike rate of 128.36 to become the ninth most consistent player in the tournament. He also bagged the Emerging Player Award that year. Many seeing him as the Future of Indian Cricket and also as a potential future captain.
- Mohammad Shami
Shami made his debut in IPL in 2009 when he was picked by KKR but he managed to play just 4 games for them. He was bought by Delhi in 2014 for 4.5 crores but has managed to play only 12 games over two seasons. He played 8 matches for DD last season scalping 5 wickets to his name also includes his 2/34 against RCB in the 11th match of the tournament, where he dismissed well set de Villiers and Kohli to change the fortunes for DD in that game. And hence definitely shows signs to be retained by the DD.
- Patrik Cummins
This Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins seemed to feel at home, sitting alongside his Delhi Daredevils skipper Zaheer Khan at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Along with him was another young tear-away from South Africa, Kagiso Rabada. They had both been inducted into the Daredevils squad last year, and initially it had appeared that no problem might affect Cummins’ chances of playing. According to one of the interviews conductewd during their training sessions we found out that the former India pace bowler and specialist coach of new ball bowlers says Cummins doesn’t have to add a lot of variations as of now making him a Trump card in this season.
